A six-year-old girl from Germany gave away 5,000 euros (￡3,603) to her classmates because she thought it was play money.
The child, from Gummersbach, found a total of 11,000 euros while playing at her uncle's flat. Thinking it was play money, she took it to school the next morning and gave almost half of it to her fellow pupils. Eventually, one of the children told their teacher what was going on, the Express newspaper writes.
She called police, who in turn informed the girl's uncle. He hadn't yet noticed the money was missing, the paper reports. Police collected the cash and returned it to her uncle.
