A mother who gave birth in the car park of a Heinz factory has been given a year's supply of baby food by the company.
Cleaner Louise Carr, 30, was leaving work at the site in Wigan when her waters broke two days before she was due to start maternity leave. Can maker Les Wall and security guard Susan Jones were called into action as they arrived at work. They helped deliver five weeks premature Emily - weighing 5lb 15oz - into Mr Wall's coat on July 2. Ms Carr said: "I can't thank them enough, Susan and Les were brilliant. They were calm and talked to me and suddenly I was pushing and there was baby Emily." Ms Jones said: "We have not met up yet, but when we do I am going to get the baby a lovely outfit."
Heinz plant manager Mark Jones said: "This is a first for this factory. We were really pleased and as a small gesture and a mark of celebration we are offering Louise a year's supply of free baby food."
